"The hotel Ryugyong is a skyscraper located in Pyongyang, North Korea, whose construction was never completed. With its 105 floors, the 3,000 rooms culminates at 330 meters, has a total area of 360,000 m², the hotel is Ryugyong building the largest city and the highest skyscraper in the country. The project was launched in the context of the Cold War, in preparation for the World Festival of Youth and 1989 as opposed to the Summer Olympics of 1988 in Seoul that North Korea had decided to boycott. He was also a reaction to the construction of the previous year Swissôtel The Stamford in Singapore by a South Korean company. The architectural firm behind the project, Baikdoosan Architects & Engineers, has endowed the house with style for less massive. Construction began in 1987 and is, to date, still not completed despite the involvement of the French group Lafarge (business is business). Expected completion in 2012, the centenary of the birth of Kim Il-sung, a whole program." via
